Abstract Garden Virtual Trunk Show

Welcome back for one more day of Abstract Garden fun! Today we're sharing a virtual trunk show of Christa's quilts made using her Abstract Garden prints. Sit back and enjoy!

Geese in the Garden
This quilt was a challenge to myself—I wanted to create a diamond shape that didn’t require any special templates. The “diamond” is the  shape you get when you put two half-square triangles together, but I figured out a way to cut the shapes without having the seam between two half-square triangles. Each version uses only five prints.

Lattice Work
This is a charm pack quilt. If you want to put all the fabrics in one quilt, this will look really great! Little black lattice strips separate the squares, like stained glass. Then I used a gray print from Fandangle for the border.

Pieced Primrose
I wanted a design that would emphasize all ten cool prints or all ten warm prints. This is a paper pieced pattern. I know a lot of people have a love-hate relationship with paper piecing. I had the original idea for this quilt five years ago and have been waiting for the right fabric to release it. The pattern includes a full-size template that can be printed off as many times as needed.

Blooming Wallflowers
I really wanted to create a gradating rainbow effect in this quilt. The hardest thing for me was not including all of the fabrics from the collection. The quilt showcases just 12 out of the 20. The background is the navy from Modern Marks, and it sets the colors off really well.

Beaded Lanterns Quilt Along

We've got more Fandangle fun today!
Do you need quilting buddies to stay on track with a project? A couple months ago, when we shared Christa Watson's Fandangle collection, we told you about the Dot 'N' Dash Quilt Along she was holding on her blog. (Head over and check out this week's post on machine quilting!). It's not too late to join in this hop--Christa's blog has all the details.

But we wanted to let you know about a second Fandangle Quilt Along using the Beaded Lanterns quilt pattern (available for free download on our website). You can find this QAL on Bernina's We All Sew website.

Here's a look at the whole Beaded Lanterns quilt:

Fandangle Fun in August!

If you fell in love with Christa Watson's Fandangle prints during our blog hop a few weeks ago, great news! Get involved with some more Fandangle fun:

Fandangle Quilt Design Challenge
First, Electric Quilt software has teamed up with Benartex for a Quilt Design Challenge. During August, EQ users can download free digital images of Fandangle. Design a quilt using the software and enter it in the challenge for a chance to win the fabric to make your quilt!

Click here to read all of the details.
If you are on instagram, be sure to also share your designs using the hashtags #fandanglefabric and #eq8.

Dot 'n' Dash Quilt Along

Christa is kicking off an 8 week quilt along on August 17 showing how to make a complete quilt from start to finish made from Fandangle fabric, using one of the quilt patterns from her current book, Piece and Quilt with Precuts.

The quilt as shown uses one Strip-pie of Fandangle plus several yards of either of the grays from Fandangle:
