A Patriotic Picnic Quilt

Jenny Doan's newest issue of Block magazine is out, and we've got a great red, white and blue quilt featured in it! Jenny designed the Friendship Star Sashing quilt using the Oh My Stars collection by Dover Hill Studio. This quilt is a perfect for featuring fun focal prints and sashing them with simple stars. And with July 4th right around the corner, the patriotic colorway is super appealing!

Make a Friendship Star Quilt with 10" Precuts

Just a quick post to share the link to Jenny Doan's Missouri Star Quilt Company video featuring Fresh Bloom! In this tutorial, Jenny shows how you can use 10" precut squares (of Michele D'Amore's Fresh Bloom collection for Contempo) to make an easy Friendship Star quilt.

Here's what Jenny has to say:

Sashing is the stuff of dreams. So simple! So easy! And yet, those little strips of fabric can completely transform the look of a quilt!
Now, I know you’ve seen basic sashing a million times before (and sashing enhanced with cute little cornerstones is certainly nothing new.) But have you ever seen sashing used as the main element of design?
The Friendship Star Quilt is made up of two basic elements: Precut 10 inch squares and sashing. THAT’S IT!!! If you think fabulous quilts have to be difficult, think again! Click HERE to see just how easy “fabulous” can be!

Diamond Dash tutorial featuring Carina

Looking for a pattern to use with pre-cuts? Jenny Doan from Missouri Star Quilt Co. is featuring a video tutorial for a quilt called "Diamond Dash." We love the unique sashing strips in this quilt, not to mention how well it shows off the focal prints from Amanda Murphy's Carina collection! The quilt uses 10" squares, and each block has only three--that's right, three!--seams.

Click here to see the quilt and watch the tutorial. This link also includes special deals on the fabric needed to make the quilt. Let us know if you make this quilt!
