Autumn in the Air: Harvest Gold

It may be May, but Autumn is in the Air! Our newest fall collections are hitting quilt shops right now, and we're introducing them here on the blog and sharing some autumn quilt inspiration all week long.

Today's featured collection is Harvest Gold from Kanvas. This elegant collection starts with a large floral on cream and black, and a coordinating border stripe. Add in autumn flowers with leaves, pears, and regal medallions, all delicately enhanced with gold metallic.

Visit Debby @debbykratovilquilts to see how she used these gorgeous metallic prints to make a medallion-style quilt (plus a chance to win fat quarters from the Harvest Gold collection).

Debby says, "I am quite taken with a vintage block called Rose Star. And because that's what I've been thinking of lately, I decided to make it one more time using the Harvest Gold Collection from Kanvas. I selected several fabrics and the gorgeous, large scale border print. I replaced the center 6 kite shapes with a single hexagon and I was able to fussy cut a beautiful motif from the main print. I added a thin, black edging to set it off against the other prints."

We'll be sharing fall-inspired fun all week long!

Autumn in the Air: Harvest Berry

It may be May, but Autumn is the Air! Our newest fall collections are hitting quilt shops right now, and we're introducing them here on the blog and sharing some autumn quilt inspiration all week long.

Cheryl Haynes' newest collection, Harvest Berry, is packed with a rich palette of autumn colors. We asked Cheryl to tell us about her new fabric line.

Don't miss the eye candy at the bottom of this post! Cheryl has designed five quilts for the line, and we also have a table runner tutorial for you and a chance to win some fabric!

What inspired the Harvest Berry collection?
I recently created a line called Winter Berry. I just love berries. I also love fall colors--it's my favorite time of the year and I even got married in the fall. So a fall berry line seemed like a great combination.

Tell us about some of the fabrics.
The Harvest Leaves print was in the very first fall fabric line I did. I painted them myself, so it’s special to me.

This line has a lot of tonal prints. I love to use them in applique designs, so you’ll always find plenty in my collections.

Do you have a favorite in the collection?
I think my favorite is the orange tossed Jacobean flowers. I first used this design in my Chicks on the Run collection. It’s yummy in the fall colors.

Tell us about the panel.
I like to create options for pillows and table runners, and that guides how the panel comes out. The square of four center blocks can be used for pillows or a wall hanging, or even the center of a quilt. I had my credenza in mind for a runner made from the longer sections. Of course with a fall line, we had to have a lot of pumpkins. This means lots of shades of orange.

Tell us about the quilts you designed using Harvest Berry.
I have five patterns for Harvest Berry. You can find them on my website here.

Lisa says,"I used the tonal prints from Cheryl's Harvest Berry collection to make a quick and easy runner with fused leaves.  I love autumn, and this runner reminds me of one of my favorite parts of the season--colorful falling leaves!"
