Life is Art or Art is Life?

It's an art lover's version of the classic question: "Which came first, the chicken or the egg?" Does art inspire life, or does life inspire art?
A little of both, we think.

Maria Kalinowski used concepts from both art and life
to create her new collection,
Op Art Reflections, for Kanvas.

This collection began with a classic: the Broadway show based on the movie  "Breakfast at Tiffany's."  The movie was set in the 1960's at a time when geometric pop art prints were very popular. Add in the blue found in the iconic Tiffany box and a vintage dress featuring op art rings (this print became one of the fabrics in the collection!), and these fabrics are drama at its best: big, bold, and eye catching.

The vintage dress print included in the collection

In fact, here's a little sneak peek into our studio; you can see the the inspiration for these fabrics below, on story boards created as the line was being developed.

  2. So many possibilities for this fabric. How fun it would be to work with these fabrics. Could see this for a quilt for a young man.

  4. The collection is lovely, the patterns seems like the ones I've seen during the 70's.

@Rita agree, there are plenty of ideas that are currently popping in my mind right now for some crafts I can do with the fabric designs
