Improv Blog Hop: Day 5

Here comes inspiration! You've seen what Amy Friend has made with her new Improv fabric collection; for the rest of the week we have five bloggers sharing what they've made with these fun, modern fabrics. This is the last day of our blog hop; check out the schedule at the bottom of the post to see the other four days and find more projects made with Improv! (And if you missed our original interview with Amy, find it here.)

Today, AnneMarie from Gen X Quilters is here, sharing her version of hoop quilting using Improv. Totally different from Nichole's, and equally beautiful and oh-so-appealing! (Yes, that is a pieced center you see in this sneak peek photo!)

Here's AnneMarie:
"Improv's palette shows such calm and gentleness with modern prints.  It's a contrast from so many modern fabrics that scream at you with intensity.  I love tone-on-tone or tone-and-white prints, they are so versatile in quilting projects.  I've been sewing up a storm of Hoop Quilts this year, and of course, I wanted to make one with Improv."

Head over to her blog to see her entire hoop project!

For a chance to win a bundle of Improv fabric, leave a comment here on the blog telling us if you've ever done hoop embroidery work. Giveaway is open through Monday, July 16th at 11:59 pm EDT.

Improv Blog Hop: Day 4

Here comes inspiration! You've seen what Amy Friend has made with her new Improv fabric collection; for the rest of the week we have five bloggers sharing what they've made with these fun, modern fabrics. Be sure to stop by each day to see a new project made with Improv! (And if you missed our original interview with Amy, find it here.)

Today Nichole from Wild Boho is sharing what she made with a selection of lighter prints from Amy's Improv collection. (Hint: It's in a hoop!). Wait until you see the embellishments she added to her piece!

Nichole says:
"When I saw the delicate colors of these fabrics, my thoughts immediately went to wispiness of hydrangeas in a summer garden.
I chose to work with several of the white fabrics for my hydrangea flower, with the leaves and background both out of the same print but one in a subtle peach version and the other with an almost electric lime green color! When I finished embroidering my hydrangea, I added clusters of champagne colors sequins, because what would a fabric hydrangea be without sequins?!! This is a beautiful line of fabrics that can work as both neutrals or focal pieces...especially in floral and garden inspired projects!

Head over to Nichole's blog to see her entire project and find out how you can enter to win a bundle of Improv fabrics.

Improv Blog Hop: Day 3

Here comes inspiration! You've seen what Amy Friend has made with her new Improv fabric collection; for the rest of the week we have five bloggers sharing what they've made with these fun, modern fabrics. Be sure to stop by each day to see a new project made with Improv! (And if you missed our original interview with Amy, find it here.)

Today Charise from Charise Creates is sharing an absolutely adorable pouch made using her Pussy Cat pattern. She chose a textured print from Improv to be the fur--a sweet little ginger cat! The pouch is paper pieced.

Charise says: I am thrilled to be today's stop on the Blog hop for Amy Friend's new fabric - Improv by Benartex.
I made my Pussy Cat Pattern into a zipper pouch.  I love how Amy's fabric translated so perfectly into the kitty fur!
Her new fabric line is gorgeous! The colors are beautiful and the prints are fresh and modern.

Head over to Charise's blog to see more of Pussy Cat Pouch, as well as a second pouch made using Improv fabrics.

For a chance to win a bundle of Improv fabric, leave a comment here on the blog telling us which Improv print is your favorite. Giveaway is open through Sunday, July 16th at 11:59 pm EDT.

Improv Blog Hop: Day 2

Here comes inspiration! You've seen what Amy Friend has made with her new Improv fabric collection; for the rest of the week we have five bloggers sharing what they've made with these fun, modern fabrics. Be sure to stop by each day to see a new project made with Improv! (And if you missed our original interview with Amy, find it here.)

Today Sharon from Color Girl Quilts is sharing her Picnic quilt pattern (love those orange peels!) made in Amy's Improv fabrics. Head over to her blog to see more and learn more about the pattern; you'll also have a chance to enter to win a bundle of Improv prints for yourself!

Sharon says:
"I prefer to sew with basic fabrics in geometric and tonal prints, so Improv is exactly my style. I like the look of solids to show off my piecing, but prefer to use prints, so tone-on-tones and textural prints are great. I wanted to use Improv to make my Picnic quilt pattern because it would show the design in a completely different look from my original one. Since the color palette is limited, I thought it was the perfect match for a pattern with large pieces and simple details. My favorite part of my quilt is the bright little 'dots' of raspberry pink. I think they just set off the whole quilt!"

Stephanie says:
"Mixing passions is a privilege and when Amy asked if I would participate in the Improv fabric blog hop I got to do just that. Using these beautiful and soft cotton prints in a novel and modern design is something that I have been wanting to do. Come along for the ride......"
