Gloaming Virtual Trunk Show

We've spent the week oohing and aahing over Shelley Cavanna's Gloaming fabrics and projects that have been made with these appealing prints. Get ready for more inspiration! Enjoy Shelley's virtual trunk show featuring the quilts she has designed using Gloaming.
Shelley is giving away digital copies of her patterns--see how you can win at the bottom of this post!

“Bloomers”
This is one of my favorite quilts! I wanted to put together a project inspired by Fair Isle knitting. Up close, it’s easy to see the pieced blocks, but standing back, it’s visually interesting. I’m also an 80s baby and I have two boys, so Nintendo is on my brain. My husband said I should do a Nintendo inspired pixel-style project. This quilt looks complex, but it can be strip pieced.

“Gingham Girls”
This is a mosaic tile style quilt. I really like complicated quilts—with complex-looking blocks that give the feeling of weaving in and out of one another. It creates the effect of multiple layers on the quilt. This is one of the quilts I designed as I put together the fabric line, so they compliment each other.

“Calliope”
This is another quilt with layers that weave in and out. It’s Greek-inspired, mixing together blues and whites from the collection. I love that it looks massively complex but can be broken down to small, manageable pieces that anyone can put together.

“Crumpet”

This quilt uses a stitch flip technique—snowball blocks and half little house blocks. It’s beginner friendly, and the way you press the seams, you don’t even need any pins because the seams nest. It’s a fast sew and super approachable, which makes me really happy.

“Sweet as Honey”

This design has been bumping around in my brain for a few years. I wanted a project that could show off a large-scale print without cutting it up. No Y seams or crazy templates—it’s actually a fairly easy quilt to piece. I made it in purple because I wanted to do a project that showed how nicely the purples played together.

"Violette"
The Gloaming fabric is a great fit for this quilt. It's another pixel-releated quilt--block, a little Irish Chain, and flowers.
