Do you know the expression for March "in like a lion, out like a lamb"?
We're starting March off with a ROAR by launching Modern by the Yard, our brand new e-zine.
This online magazine has a decidedly modern feel (hence the name!) and is packed with inspiration and ideas for using Benartex, Kanvas and Contempo fabrics to create modern projects. We are very excited to bring you this new endeavor, as we are fervent supporters of the modern quilting movement and bringing quilting to the next generation.
Our first issue of this quarterly digital publication focuses on our blender and basic collections. You'll find four patterns, Debby Kratovil's Modern with a Twist column, a gorgeous showcase of Romanian quilter Geta Grama's art made with Fossil Ferns, and a gallery of all our modern leaning basic collections. We know you will love it!
Click on the orange box below to browse the first issue!
We're also asking you, our loyal blog readers, to help us spread the word about Modern by the Yard. Click on the link above and turn to page 32 to find out how you can help (and win free fabric at the same time!)
Here's a quick peek at a few of the pages...

I don't consider myself a modern quilter, but I did enjoy looking through your new e-zine. I saw some ideas I liked and especially like the bright colors in many of the blender fabric lines. Good luck with the new publication.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing. Loved the color combinations.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing the many ideas in the new e-zine, and for helping me trust that the lovely and versatile fossil ferns line will be around for many quilts to come. I especially enjoyed Debby Kratovil's spin on hexies, Geta Grama's exquisite designs and color play, and the deconstructed churn dash. So many inspirations, so little time!! I look forward to future issues.
ReplyDeleteThank you - lots of great ideas & lovely fabrics here!
ReplyDeleteLooks great!
ReplyDeleteGreat new magazine! I would love to print a copy of one of the patterns (3 pages), but I can't figure it out without signing up for something. What am I missing?
ReplyDeleteHi Annette, The downloading option is now available. Let us know if you have problems. Thanks!
DeleteI like your new emag! The only thing that would make it better is if it could be downloaded in a handier pdf..
ReplyDeleteHi Juanita, Now it can! Try it out and let us know if have problems. Thanks!
DeleteThis magazine looks great. How do we get a copy
ReplyDeleteHi Doreen,
DeleteYou can always use the link in the post above (the orange rectangle) to access the e-zine online. Otherwise, a downloading option is now available after you click on the link. This means you can save the e-zine to your computer in pdf form. Let us know if you have problems. Thanks!
Love the new magazine! Very colorful with great content. There's only one problem. I can't find a way to download & save it so I can print patterns. Is there a way that I'm not finding? Other than that I'm really enjoying the magazine. Thank you & God bless
ReplyDeleteHi Gloria,
DeleteYou can download and save it now! Try it out and let us know if you have problems. Thanks!
I found the magazine interesting, but I prefer to read a printed copy as it is more comfortable for me. I finally found a way to download, but then it wanted me to subscribe/open an account in with some other site which I know nothing about. Not so good.
ReplyDeleteHi Susan,
DeletePlease give it a try again--we made the download option easier.
Thanks!
Love the looks and patterns in the new magazine. However, even reading (or trying to read)it was difficult since I could not change the size of the font. I really couldn't read the dimensions of the pieces to cut. Could you find a way to allow the readers to change the size of the font and also to save the magazine for future reference? That would be VERY helpful
ReplyDeleteHi Anonymous, You can now download the e-zine to your computer, and once it's there, you can open it in Adobe Reader and zoom in as needed. Thanks!
DeleteThank you! It's the best gift for crafter!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for making the e-mag downloadable. I printed something just fine! BTW I forgot to mention how happy I am that Fossil Fern is still around!! LOVE that fabric!
ReplyDeleteVery nice indeed! love it! thank you!
ReplyDeleteThis magazine is a fantastic addition to the quilting world. It is bright, uncluttered and filled with quilts I want to make. Geta is my all-time favourite quilter and I knew anything she was involved in would be excellent.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your launch and I hope to read more of your work.
My browser, Mozilla, allows the ability to change font size so I did not have the problem one commenter noted.
This is a great idea! I love seeing your fabrics showcased in new, modern ways. Congratulations on the publication - I'm sure it will be a great success!
ReplyDeleteOk, hello everyone. I have been trying for ever to download these magazines to my iPad and I have tried everything besides throwing my iPad out the window and believe I have wanted too. Lol. Can someone just please send the magazines in pdf form to my email which is dolphins1008@att.net so I can download them before I freak out and ruin a new iPad. Lol. Thank you so much. Kellie
