Looking back at 2015

As 2015 draws to a close, we thought it would be fun to ask you to take a walk down memory lane...

What was your favorite quilting project from 2015? Leave a message in the comments below letting us know what you made and who it was for!

  1. Completing a baby blanket for our new grandson born in November. I also had to make receiving blankets, burp cloths, changing pads, car seat cover and of course bibs. It was so much fun doing this for the first time parents.

  3. I made a discovery box for my grandbaby. A soft fabric box with a hole in the top to reach in and pull out little stuffed toys, some with squeakers inside: a fish, rabbit, frog, ladybug, and bird. She had just turned 11 months in December and knew exactly how to play with it!

  4. I made a log cabin quilt using fabric from all of the quilts I'd made up until now. It was a huge quilt, for our biggest dog, Teddy, who loved to stretch out on big quilts and blankets. I adored that big boy, and loved making him a quilt. He stretched out on it even while I was laying out the blocks to decide on their placement.

  5. I made and 18" x 24" paper pieced eagle. I quilted it heavily and mounted it in a frame. I gave it to my Dad for Christmas and he loved it.

  6. I made a rainbow kitten quilt that my great niece requested for Christmas - I used a purchased pattern but 'customized' it to how I wanted to create it. She loved it when she opened it.

  8. I am still working on hand quilting a quilt for our master bedroom!! It is the largest quilt that I have ever made and I call it Dream Batik. I had to set it aside to make Christmas gifts but I'm ready to get it finished.... at least I'm toasty warm while hand stitching!!

  9. Two projects tie for my 2015 favorite: (1) log-cabin-esque quilt using a novelty bears panel and lots of stash strips for my grand-niece and her new baby; (2) music-themed wall-quilt embellished with family pins and tie-tacks to honor my mother who is in memory care. I enjoyed making up both as I sewed.

  11. I made 2 advent calendars, you know, they need to be "adjusted" to be just right. I also did a block of the month with a friend, 48 blocks, my top is done!!!!

  12. My favorite project was a set of seasonal miniature quilts I made as our guilds contribution to the Utah Quilt Guild's annual Quiltfest. They were in the basket that sold for the most and I have received many wonderful comments on them.

  13. First "family baby quilt". I'm about to become a nana to a foster child/or baby via my youngest son and my lovely daughter-in=law. Crib sheets to coordinate with the quilt. It was sentimental for me, fun too tho:)

  14. I finished a Japanese quilt that was QAG. It's a modern version of a traditional Japanese quilt. I started it quite a while ago but finished it in 2015. I love how it turned out!

  15. My daughter and I finished our squares from a shop hop. Mostly the fun was working on the squares together. The coordinating fabrics, and the challenge of arranging the squares to a pleasing whole quilt, was fun too.
