It's an art lover's version of the classic question: "Which came first, the chicken or the egg?" Does art inspire life, or does life inspire art?
A little of both, we think.
Maria Kalinowski used concepts from both art and life
to create her new collection,
Op Art Reflections, for Kanvas.
This collection began with a classic: the Broadway show based on the movie "Breakfast at Tiffany's." The movie was set in the 1960's at a time when geometric pop art prints were very popular. Add in the blue found in the iconic Tiffany box and a vintage dress featuring op art rings (this print became one of the fabrics in the collection!), and these fabrics are drama at its best: big, bold, and eye catching.

In fact, here's a little sneak peek into our studio; you can see the the inspiration for these fabrics below, on story boards created as the line was being developed.

ReplyDeleteWhat a fun collection!
ReplyDeleteSo many possibilities for this fabric. How fun it would be to work with these fabrics. Could see this for a quilt for a young man.
ReplyDeleteBrings back memories of that time and creativity is inspired.
ReplyDeleteThe collection is lovely, the patterns seems like the ones I've seen during the 70's.
ReplyDelete@Rita agree, there are plenty of ideas that are currently popping in my mind right now for some crafts I can do with the fabric designs
